In this paper I'm going to express my meaning of education and the different aspects that each and every teacher should follow. I'm going to start with nature of students than follow into with these topics: nature of knowledge, purpose of education, why it is important, things I want to accomplish as a teacher,. I believe that when students are comfortable, whether it be with a teacher or just a setting, they will learn much more quickly. Therefore, I think that it is extremely important to create an environment that is safe and comfortable for the students. The reason is that I believe that students need to be able to learn in a way that relates to their lives in the present day.

Students will retain the information they learn much better if they are able to connect that information to an aspect of their lives. The other key aspect of the this construct is that the students need to be allowed to come up with their. Cooperative learning is an educational approach which aims to organize classroom activities into academic and social learning experiences. There is much more to Cooperative Learning than merely arranging students into groups, and it has been described as structuring positive interdependence Prasetyo, Cooperative learning is a technique that allows students to learn from each other and gain important interpersonal skills. Learn more about the benefits, strategies, and techniques involved in cooperative learning Olsen, It is an organized and structured way to use small groups to enhance student learning and interdependence.

Students are given a task, better known as an assignment, and they work together to accomplish this tasks. The success is dependent on the work of everyone in the group. One of the rationales for choosing cooperative learning is due to my belief that learning would only take place if there is interaction between pupils and the involvement of positive debates within groups would stimulate the pupils to develop greater depths in their thinking. Through in-depth thinking and sharing of these thoughts, members of the groups would be exposed to different level of thinking and it could encourage stimulation of better strategies to complete the assigned tasks.

Productive learning would take place because pupils interact and learn from each. People today are content with this helpless lifestyle and so generation after generation will continue until the society has no leaders. I attribute this directly to the education of these individuals. As a future teacher, I must look at what the nature of students has become, the nature of knowledge, and ask myself why we have public education. In order for me to be an effective educator, I must reevaluate my philosophy. Essay Topics Writing. Home Page Research My Personal Philosophy of Education Essay examples. I believe that every professor and every student can change the world for the better. My philosophy of education My philosophy of education is that every child should have the right to learn and get great quality of education. In my educational experiences, I have seen a wide collection of teachers and teaching styles. I have been in classes that have largely impacted my life and others that have left a simple dent of influence. I have come to be able to distinguish between the characteristics that comprise a good teacher, and those that do the opposite.

I know that a powerful teacher is one who can teach lessons both inside and outside of the classroom, one who can establish a personal connection with his or her students, and one that former students remember well into their adult lives. Through examining traits of former teachers in my life, my personal strengths, and my own opinions on teaching, I have learned components of what defines an exceptional educator. Teachers take a lot of responsibility in teaching students. For instance, teachers are responsible for encouraging their students to have a positive attitude toward learning, not only for today, but also for tomorrow as part of a lifelong experience. Since I started school, until now as I am in college, I have had many teachers who have influenced me to be where I am now in positive and negative ways.

As I explained in my reflection paper, when I was in my country Jordan, I struggled a lot in school due to the use of physical punishments. But when I came to the United States, everything changed. My dislike of school became a like because the school system is way different from that in Jordan. I am more motivated, and now I keep pushing myself to learn more. Every time I think about this, it makes me realize that not every teacher deserves to be called one because that title is reserved for great ones. I believe that every person has a different way of learning and this should be taken into account.

I want to be that teacher who makes students love school and makes them learn in a better way. Influence of scholars My philosophy about learning has been influenced by a number of scholars, which include John Dewey, who was a strong proponent for progressive educational reform. As Talebi explains, he believed that education should be based on the principle of learning through doing. In Dewey and his wife Harriet started their own experimental primary school, the University Elementary School, at the University of Chicago. Another philosopher of education was Jean Piaget, a Swiss psychologist, known for his work on child development.

I am currently enrolled in a course called Child Psychology and the two philosophers of education that I am learning about are Jean Piaget and John Dewey. These philosophers stood out to me the most because I have a similar way of teaching, and I have also experienced their techniques of teaching as a great way of learning for me. I have used my child psychology book that has a lot of great information about both scholars. He made a strong case for the importance of education not only as a place to gain knowledge, but also as a place to learn how to live. Therefore, motivating students is clearly an important task when it comes to bringing out the best in them. If possible, it is imperative for a teacher to conduct a deeply rooted analysis on the issues that may potentially lead to an unmotivated student, for instance, social factors like complicated family matters.

And sometimes, physical conditions may delay students from achieving their best work. Conclusion In my philosophy of education, students are often encouraged to help determine curriculum and learn by doing. This means students must have the opportunity to learn in a community by engaging in authentic and meaningful learning projects. An ideal learning environment would be a setting where interaction and collaboration are encouraged. There are many steps for academic success that teachers should set a foundation for their classrooms. So, class teachers should set boundaries that are agreeable to everyone not just a teacher. My philosophy of education is shaped by both my personal learning experiences and a set five core standards that I feel are central to any successful learning experience. My personal learning experiences have been diverse; from kindergarten through college, I have had both positive and negative learning experiences. The positive learning experiences will stand out as examples of how I can help others learn. The negative experiences are models of what I will avoid if I have the opportunity to teach or train others. The first of the five standards that I believe lead to success for both teachers and students is the foundational knowledge. Ensuring that students have the basics of the subject ingrained before moving on to more complex and comprehensive material is one of the most important aspects of the learning process.

If a student does not know basic anatomy, then learning the diseases of one of the organs of the body will not be effective. Having sound instructional strategies and appropriate curriculum materials is the second standard that is essential to teaching and learning success. For example, I intensely dislike participating in group educational activities. I always have. I much prefer to do work on my own, whether it is as a student in college classes, an employee at a conference, or any other academic or professional activity. I do see the value in group activities, but I really do dislike them. I have always assumed that most other students feel the same way.

However, after taking many college courses, I have realized that most of my classmates enjoy group activities and prefer group effort over individual work. The third standard that I have noticed is crucial to my own academic success and to that of others is assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of learning activities. Students are not always aware of these factors as the educational process is underway, but the instructor must always be assessing, diagnosing, and evaluating all of the students to ensure that the learning activity is a productive one and that the individual students are actually understanding the material and developing from it. Creating a comfortable and welcoming environment should be a part of any learning process, and it is the fourth standard that I believe leads to teacher and student success.

Uncomfortable chairs, cold rooms, rigid teachers, and outdated materials all lead to an uncomfortable learning environment. It has always been difficult for me to concentrate in these types of situations, and I strongly believe that the body and the mind must be in a comfortable state in order to get the most out of any learning activity. Finally, for the fifth standard that is central to a successful learning experience, I believe, is that of professional development. This means that teachers and instructors need to continue to learn and nursing professionals need to continue to learn.

One of the most important aspects of professional development is participating in an ongoing community of co-workers and other health care professionals. Learning from mentors and leading mentees are both great ways to connect and discover new and better techniques, theories, and procedures. Overall, most of my learning experiences have been positive. There have been times when projects or exams seemed overwhelming, but upon successful completion of them, I had a tremendous feeling of accomplishment. I plan to continue to my education, either formally or informally, via the methods listed in this philosophy of education.
